The grids Luxembourg Gardens between the Senate and the Ecole des Mines, the exhibition "Children of the World" presents 81 photographs of children from elsewhere, until January 9, 2007. An opportunity for parents and children to take a trip beyond the borders and time.
Used the Jordan du Luxembourg or walkers Sunday, lovers or visitors anonymous neighborhood, children in strollers or bicycles, all are invited to discover portraits of children full of innocence, love and emotions in the Garden of Luxembourg. According to Kevin Kling, the Franco-American photographer at the root of this exhibition: "Le Jordan do Luxembourg is a paradise for children. What more wonderful place to expose how children elsewhere play, laugh or cry, but also learn, study and work. "
Known as the author of several books of photographs and numerous reports, the photographer is often required as part of his job to travel the continents to meet the peoples. The Mongolian steppes to the Himalayas, the Andes to the great African Rift through Tibet, Kevin Kling traverse some of the most inaccessible and the finest in the world. In the exhibition "Children of the World," she introduced her photographs of children, carefully selected from its publications and in particular his book "Childhood Litanies" and his personal collection.
Some shots of children from around the globe, sublime, brightly colored and emotionally charged, contrasted with the urban landscape of Paris. Passers-stop time to contemplate these images elsewhere and are allowed to bring in distant lands. Children discover in the same way as their parents with scenes of everyday life: a blonde girl wearing milk cans, a child sleeps on a straw mattress, a girl Ethiopian sets the objective of his eyes sparkling, a monk in a Tibetan studies The temple… customs and habits, landscape and colors, faces and expressions are all different from one shot to another. Only the eyes of children is evident in unison. The child observes these clichés and discover the reality of children from elsewhere. There are children who are not in school, who have no shoes, which work in the fields or fishing with nets. And yet, like him, they grow up, cry, laugh and play. They too share tender moments with their parents, of complicity with their brothers and sisters, relaxing with their companions games. The exhibition proposes to show the community of children, beyond the boundaries and differences. Invitation au voyage, openness to the world, discovering others, "Children's World" promises to large and small a change of scenery in the heart of Paris. |
